The Office of Intellectual Property is responsible for a wide range of activities involving AgCenter faculty research. The office follows each invention from cradle to grave, be it docketing new invention disclosures or guiding patenting activities through outside legal counsel. The office is ultimately responsible for everything involving the protection and commercialization of university research.
Lyda Gatewood is director of the Offices of Intellectual Property and Sponsored Programs. She holds a B.S. in biology from Antioch College and a master's in public health from Tulane University. Ms. Gatewood has received several research grants for work in this country and abroad and has co-authored several publications. She has worked in a variety of laboratory settings, both academic and commercial. Before coming to the AgCenter, she was director of State Programs at the Louisiana Board of Regents where she was an integral part of the Board’s multi-million dollar Education Support Fund grants programs. She came to the AgCenter in 1997.
